Rafael Salazar Alonso
The author was Home Minister (Ministro de Gobernación) in Spain in 1934. As such, Salazar Alonso tracked and monitored the insurrectional plans of the socialists in Spain which started immediately after they lost the 1933 elections to the center right coalition. The book is a very well documented account of the preparation and launch of the October 1934 armed insurrection in Spain, led by PSOE and UGT with CNT and, in the last moment, by the PCE. Salazar Alonso was arrested and shot by left wing militias in 1936. In his indictment, his writing of this book is explicitly mentioned.
