Geophysical Monitoring for Geologic Carbon Storage and Utilization
Lianjie Huang
Lianjie Huang is a Senior Scientist with the Geophysics Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He received his PhD degree in Geophysics from Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris/University of Paris 7 in 1994, after earning his MSc degree in Mathematics in 1989 and BSc degree in Physics in 1985, both from Peking University. His primary research interests are in seismic-wave propagation, imaging, and inversion with applications to monitoring geologic carbon sequestration and subsurface characterization for geothermal energy and oil/gas exploration. He also conducts research in medical ultrasound imaging. He has published more than 150 journal and proceedings papers. He is a member of AGU (American Geophysical Union), active member of SEG (Society of Exploration Geophysicists), and a member of SPIE (International Society for Optics and Photonics) and AIUM (American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine). He serves as a member of SEG Research Committee, SEG CO2 Subcommittee, and SEG Publication Committee (reviewing SEG book proposals and serves as Managing Editors of books published by SEG). He has served as an Associate Editor for a special issue in “Interpretation” (an SEG journal) (to be published in 2015), an invited Editor for a special volume on “Computational Geophysics” published by journal “Communications in Computational Physics” in 2008, and an Associate Editor for “Communications in Computational Physics.” He has also served as an Associate Editor for Medical Physics. He was the primary convener of the special sessions on Geophysical Monitoring for Geologic Carbon Storage/Sequestration at AGU Fall Meetings in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.
